마태복음 MATTHEW 2:13-23

이집트로 피난하였다가 돌아옴

13 박사들이 돌아간 후 주님의 천사가 꿈에 요셉에게 나타나 말하였다. “헤롯이 아기를 찾아 죽이려고 한다. 너는 아기와 그의 어머니를 데리고 이집트로 피난 가서 나의 지시가 있을 때까지 거기서 기다려라.”

14 그래서 요셉은 밤에 아기와 그의 어머니를 데리고 이집트로 가서

15 헤롯이 죽을 때까지 거기 있었다. 이리하여 주님께서 예언자를 통해 “내가 이집트에서 내 아들을 불러내었다” 하신 말씀이 이루어졌다.

16 헤롯은 박사들에게 속은 것을 알고 몹시 화가 났다. 그래서 그는 베들레헴과 그 부근에 사람들을 보내 박사들에게 알아본 때를 기준으로 하여 두 살 아래의 사내아이들을 모조리 죽여 버렸다.

17 이 사건으로 예언자 예레미야의 다음과 같은 예언이 이루어졌다.

18 “라마에서 한 소리가 들리니 슬퍼하고 통곡하는 소리이다. 라헬이 자식을 잃고 슬퍼하며 위로받기를 거절하는구나.”

19 헤롯이 죽은 후 주님의 천사가 꿈에 이집트에 있는 요셉에게 나타나

20 “아기의 생명을 노리던 사람들이 죽었으니 너는 아기와 그의 어머니를 데리고 이스라엘로 돌아가거라” 하였다.

21 그래서 요셉은 아기와 그의 어머니를 데리고 이스라엘로 돌아왔다.

22 그러나 요셉은 아켈라오가 그의 아버지 헤롯의 뒤를 이어 유대 왕이 되었다는 말을 듣고 그 곳에 가기가 겁이 났다. 그는 꿈에 하나님의 지시를 받고 갈릴리 지방으로 가서

23 ‘나사렛’ 이란 동네에서 살았다. 그래서 “그를 나사렛 사람이라고 부를 것이다” 라는 예언자들의 예언이 이루어졌다.

The Escape to Egypt

13 When they had gone, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream. “Get up,” he said, “take the child and his mother and escape to Egypt. Stay there until I tell you, for Herod is going to search for the child to kill him.”

14 So he got up, took the child and his mother during the night and left for Egypt, 15 where he stayed until the death of Herod. And so was fulfilled what the Lord had said through the prophet: “Out of Egypt I called my son.”

16 When Herod realized that he had been outwitted by the Magi, he was furious, and he gave orders to kill all the boys in Bethlehem and its vicinity who were two years old and under, in accordance with the time he had learned from the Magi. 17 Then what was said through the prophet Jeremiah was fulfilled:

18 “A voice is heard in Ramah,

weeping and great mourning,

Rachel weeping for her children

and refusing to be comforted,

because they are no more.”

19 After Herod died, an angel of the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph in Egypt 20 and said, “Get up, take the child and his mother and go to the land of Israel, for those who were trying to take the child’s life are dead.”

21 So he got up, took the child and his mother and went to the land of Israel. 22 But when he heard that Archelaus was reigning in Judea in place of his father Herod, he was afraid to go there. Having been warned in a dream, he withdrew to the district of Galilee, 23 and he went and lived in a town called Nazareth. So was fulfilled what was said through the prophets, that he would be called a Nazarene.
